As part of my Spooktacular pattern releases this October, alongside the Candy Corn Head Band and Drawstring Bag, this is a Cat-hat for people who can’t make hats. Myself included. I can design an entire dress but a hat still eludes me… not any more! This is the Black Cat Hat, beginner friendly, quick and easy!

Sizing is a nightmare! Somehow it always gets messed up when I sit down to do a hat, and I thought, “How can I possibly get around this?”

Well… maybe by not working in the round!

If you can stitch a rectangle then you can make this hat in just a few hours. It’s easy peasy and you’re making the ribbed brim at the same time as the main Body. The cat ears are formed thanks to the points of the original rectangle so no sewing required!

Last minute Halloween outfit? Sorted!

You will need:

  • 4mm and 3.5mm crochet hook (I use a KnitPro Waves hook which you can get here)
  • 25g approx of DK weight yarn. I used Sirdar Ella in shade 0010.

Notes:

This pattern is written in UK terms. US terms are given in the Abbreviations section below.
