CROCHET PATTERN – Star Scrubbies

Scrubbies are all the rage right now. They’re eco-friendly thanks to being reusable, they’re great on skin and they make the perfect gift- especially a last minute one! So here’s my pattern for Star Scrubbies, a magical take on an old favourite!

You will need:

10g of an Aran Weight cotton yarn. I used Schachenmayr Catania in White as I had some left over from my Canyon Crochet Top.

5g of a scrubby yarn. I used Yarn Bee Scrub-ology Cotton in Signs of Spring. Make sure you’re using a cotton yarn if you plan on using this on your body so it’s not too abrasive.

6mm crochet hook (I use a KnitPro Waves hook which you can get here)

Yarn Needle for those pesky ends!

Scissors


Abbreviations

Ch = Chain


St = stitch

Sts = stitches

SlSt = slip stitch

DC = double crochet (US = single crochet)

BS = bobble stitch. Yarn over and pull through st so that you have three loops on your hook, next yarn over pull through the first TWO loops, yarn over insert hook in same stitch, yarn over pull through first two loops, yarn over insert hook in same stitch, yarn over and pull through first two hoops, yarn over insert hook in same stitch, yarn over and pull through first 2 loops, you should now have 5 loops total, yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.) Do not ch1 at the end.

TC = treble crochet (US = double crochet)


Pattern

With white cotton.

Make a magic circle (alternatively ch5 and SlSt to join into a circle)

Round 1: Ch3 and 2TCtog to make first BS. Repeat [Ch1, BS] 4 times. Join to top of 3TCtog with Slst and change to scrubby yarn.

Round 2: Ch3, [2TC, 1Ch, 3TC] in same st. *Ch1, [3TC, Ch1, 3TC] in top of BS below*. Repeat from * to * in each BS around. Join to top of beginning Ch3 with SlSt and fasten off.

Round 3: With white cotton, rejoin to any Ch1-sp from the [3TC, Ch1, 3TC] repeat from the round below. Ch3. [2TC, 3Ch, 3TC] in this Ch1-sp. *SlSt into next Ch1-sp. *[3TC, 3Ch, 3TC] into next Ch1-sp. SlSt into next Ch1-sp*. Repeat from * to * all the way around. Join with SlSt to top of beginning Ch3. Fasten off.

Round 4: rejoin scrubby yarn. DC in every st around and 3DC, 3Ch, 3DC in every 3Ch-sp from the round before. Go around the star in this way and then join with SlSt to first st. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
